Communications Director (part-time, 20 hours/week)

OVERVIEW: The Communications Director serves as the staff leader for both internal and external communications for both church and school at Immanuel Lutheran. The Communications Director creates, organizes, plans, and implements effective communication strategies which support the mission and ministry of the church and school. Reports To: Senior Pastor

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Demonstrates active membership in a Christian church and shows the grace of the gospel in his/her dealings with others.

-College degree in communications, public relations or marketing and two years of experience (at a minimum) in related field. Candidates with unrelated educational backgrounds will be considered, provided they have significant related experience.

-Possesses exceptional computer skills, specifically in using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

-Writes well – clearly, concisely, creatively.

-Takes individual initiative in carrying out all responsibilities.

-Enjoys working on a team and possesses exceptional skills in interpersonal communication, relationships, and public relations.

-Seeks opportunities for further education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Serves as the communications leader of the congregation.

-Creates an environment in which messages are communicated clearly, creatively, and effectively.

-Proactively organizes and plans timely communications.

-Solicits information from ministry leaders and helps prioritize communication of information. Listens for and elicits important stories and creatively communicates them.

-Creates, organizes, plans, and implements effective communications and strategies to church and community audiences.

-Knows and uses multiples modes of communication – email, text, video, print, newsletter, social media, etc – and customizes modes to particular audiences.

-Keeps abreast of new modes of communication.

-Supports ministry leaders in conveying vision and priorities to appropriate audiences.

-Cultivates, leads, and manages a team of communications ministry volunteers.

-Ensures that website and social media communications are up to date.

-Oversees compliance with standards for use of Immanuel’s logo, font, color, and style.

-Oversees the Communications budget.
